NEW MUTIA TI LA UNION QUEEN HAILED

LU QUEENS. After years of waiting, the Municipality of Sudipen finally clinched the crown of the most prestigious pageant in the province, the Mutia ti La Union. Anne Margareth “Meghan” V. Sanglay, representative of the said municipality, bagged the title Mutia ti La Union 2019 on March 2, 2019 held at Poro Point Baywalk, City of San Fernando, La Union.

Meghan is a 21 year old, 4th year nursing student of Lorma Colleges and an intern at Lorma Hospital. On 2017, she represented the Philippines in Supertalent of the World, an International pageant held at Korea. She also joined Mutia ti La Union 2015 and landed as the 1st Runner Up.

With her grace and confidence, she impressed the judges as she moved on stage. Aside from the title, she also won the Miss Soiltech award.

With her witty answer, Meghan dazzled the crowd during the question and answer portion. She answered the question “What is the greatest blessing you’ve received in life and why?” with “The greatest blessing that I have received in life is to be able to stand in the Mutia ti La Union stage again. I can say that I have faced rejections, criticisms before but now I came back stronger and braver. Now, I am worthy of the crown facing it stronger, braver and more empowered.”

Four other ladies stood up during the pageant. Ms. Kristine Aquino of Bangar was crowned as Mutia ti Turismo and received the Miss Beautiful Hair award while Ms. Ethel Abellanosa of Tubao was crowned Mutia ti Kalikasan. Ms. Rebecca Estrada of Pugo got the 1st Runner Up and also won Ms. Photogenic, Best in Swimsuit and Evening Gown awards while Ms. Mari Jo Quilon of San Fernando City, who won the Miss CSI and Thunderbird Awards, landed as the 2nd Runner Up.

Other top 10 finalists were Ms. Camille Dalmacio of Agoo who also won Miss Sillag and Beautiful Skin awards; Ms. Angelita Soliven from Santo Tomas, Ms. Jessica Estillore of Naguilian; Ms. Aleeya Sampaga from Luna and Ms. Rosenda Bulong of Balaoan.

Ms. Dimple Martin of Bauang was chosen as Miss Friendship, Miss Toyota and Miss 1590; Ms. Nerissa Shawyer from Rosario got the People’s Choice Award; and Ms. Emalyn Fontanilla of Bacnotan was awarded Best in Talent.

The show was a star-studded event. Big names in showbiz graced the said pageant. Luis Manzano and Bayani Agbayani served as the hosts. Actress Jodi Sta. Maria, Miss World 2013 Meghan Young, Actor Paulo Avelino, Veteran Photographer Raymond Isaac and Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez served as the panel of judges. Actress Julia Baretto also entertained the crowd through a duet song with Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III. Actor, Matteo Guidicelli serenaded the candidates in their evening gowns. Also spotted in the audience were singer Pops Fernandez and actress Marjorie Baretto. After the pageant, a concert was also held in the same stage by Ex Batallion.

Mutia ti La Union 2019 is one of the highlights of the 169th Foundation Anniversary serving as an opportunity for young women to make an impact on the community with their advocacies on women and youth empowerment, protection of environment, healthy lifestyle, among others.
