For the second consecutive year, the Naguilian District Hospital (NDH) has once again proven its excellence in neonatal care after being awarded the Top Performing Newborn Screening Facility by the Department of Health (DOH).
Newborn screening plays a critical role in the early diagnosis of genetic, metabolic, and other congenital disorders, which, if detected early, can be managed to prevent serious health complications or death. NDH’s consistent performance and commitment to quality care have set a high standard in the Ilocos Region and beyond. The DOH commended NDH for surpassing national targets in screening coverage, timeliness of sample collection, and follow-up services – key indicators that solidified its status as a top-tier facility.
Dr. Cherrymae B. Belarmino, the current OIC Chief of Hospital at NDH, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the honor, emphasizing that the award is a reflection of the hospital staff’s dedication to ensuring every child has a healthy start in life.
With NDH as part of the Provincial Government of La Union’s (PGLU) district hospitals, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David extends her heartfelt congratulations to the hospital, citing its numerous awards in history as a testament to its dedication to continuously improving operations. She also commits the PGLU’s support to the hospital to provide quality healthcare to newborns, mothers, and all KaPROBINSYAnihan.
As the hospital celebrates this milestone, NDH emphasizes its mission to deliver accessible, high-quality healthcare services to every family in the region, also making La Union one of the leading provinces for newborn screening.
