In a proactive effort to promote fire prevention awareness, the Naguilian District Hospital (NDH) conducted a community clean-up drive on Saturday, April 26, 2025. It focused on clearing the hospital surroundings of waste and flammable debris to reduce the risk of fire as the heat index continues to climb in the province.

The hospital staff were joined by civic and community partners, including the Junior Chamber International Naguilian Basi, One Ganap Guardians of Naguilian, and Barangay Natividad Officials. They worked together to remove dried leaves, clean up overgrown vegetation, and dispose potential fire hazards around the hospital vicinity. The collective action
was also part of a broader campaign to raise awareness among Naguilianons and KaPROBINSYAnihan about the importance of cleanliness and vigilance during the dry season.

OIC-Chief of Hospital Dr. Cherrymae B. Belarmino shared that the activity was more than a routine clean-up drive, “With the rising heat index…fire hazards are becoming more prevalent. We want to ensure that our hospital remains a safe space.”

The Provincial Government of La Union, headed by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, offers its full support to the NDH as it encourages other public and private institutions to initiate similar preventive measures. Through committed #La UnionPROBINSYAnihan, the province can stay safe during the heightened fire risk brought about by the summer heat.
