In commemoration of Fire Prevention Month, the Naguilian District Hospital (NDH) together with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Naguilian Station organized a series of emergency preparedness drills focused on three critical areas: fire safety, earthquake preparedness, and chemical spill response on March 28, 2025.
NDH conducted this initiative to ensure the safety and readiness of its staff and patients by organizing a comprehensive series of drills specifically a Fire, Earthquake, and Chemical Drill.
During the fire drill, the participants were trained to respond quickly and effectively to alarms; evacuate patients and staff safely; and assemble at designated evacuation points. The firefighters also demonstrated how to use fire extinguishers, manage fire alarms, and handle various fire-related situations.
Participants also practiced "Drop, Cover, and Hold On," a key earthquake survival technique during the earthquake drill.
Meanwhile, the chemical drill was designed to prepare staff to quickly and efficiently respond to a chemical spill. They were taught how to safely neutralize hazardous materials to minimize the risk of injury and contamination affecting the hospital environment.
Prior to the event, firefighters and emergency responders from the BFP provided expert advice with hands-on demonstrations and ensured that the drills were conducted in accordance with safety standards.
This activity is part of NDH’s ongoing efforts to educate and prepare its personnel, student trainees, and patients for potential emergencies, supported by the Provincial Government of La Union to ensure the optimum provision of healthcare services for all KaPROBINSYAnihan.
