Nowadays, the kaprobinsiaan youth population has been exposed and struggling from different societal problems that affects their lives negatively, hence, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) conducted a Teen Trail Activity for the youth sector to address these problems and convey support to them.
On March 9, 2022, the PSWD carried out Youth for You (U4U) La Union Teen Hub Teen Trail Activity participated in by Youth Leaders from various youth-serving organizations provincewide. The said activity, which is part of the 172nd Foundation Anniversary of the Province La Union, aims to empower the youth and promote awareness on relevant societal problems faced by youth population such as teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, mental health, sexually transmitted illnesses and a lot more.
In adherence to the provinceโs alert level 1 minimum health standard, the activity was done simultaneously in online and limited face-to-face settings at the Bahay Pag-asa, Sta. Rita, Bacnotan, La Union with a total of 59 youth participants โ 26 online and 33 face-to-face attendees. Different interactive activities were prepared by the resource speakers to engage participation from the youth leaders and to clearly demonstrate to them the negative consequences of the conditions and behaviors led by current societal issues. This is to ultimately perceive solutions in order for them to become responsible and productive sector of the province and nation as a whole. Capping the activity was an open forum where the participants were able to open up and express their feelings and opinions towards each topic and activity.
The PGLU hopes that through the U4U La Union Teen Hub Teen Trail Activity, youth leaders and other participants from the youth sector shall be able to share their activity takeaways and take part in its implementation as every kaprobinsiaan work in solidarity in building a Stronger La Union, a province worth living in.
