The La Union Provincial Board has approved a resolution that authorizes Governor Raphaelle “Rafy” Veronica Ortega-David to enter into and sign a Deed of Donation (DOD) with the two (2) Municipal Police Stations for the donation of patrol vehicles.

Authored by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Jennifer C. Mosuela-Fernandez during the session on Feb. 7, 2023, it disclosed that “the contract between the Provincial Government of La Union and the two (2) Municipal Police Stations is executed to set forth the commitments of the parties with respect to its program of maintaining peace and order and immediate response and rescue in times of disaster in the province.”

As noted in the Deed of Donation, the PGLU, in partnership with the Provincial Peace and Order Council La Union Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PPOC-LUADAC), had approved the provision of patrol vehicles to enhance the capabilities of police units, particularly the Municipalities of Bagulin and Santol, through Joint PPOC-LUADAC Resolution No. l, Series of 2022 as proposed by the La Union Police Provincial Office (LUPPO) under Project ARIWAWA (Alertness and Readiness intensification by using Warning Accessories against Would-be criminal/offender Along the street).

“The donation of patrol vehicles is a continuing project of the Provincial Government that aims to improve or enhance peace and order and public safety in the province,” the instrument stated.

As stipulated in the DOD, the donor(PGLU), through the Governor voluntarily gives, transfers, and conveys, by way of conditional donation, unto the donees (Municipal Police Station of Bagulin and Santol) the motor vehicles described as Toyota Hilux 2023 model.

In addition to the rules and conditions of the contract, the Municipal Police Station of Bagulin and Santol shall commit to a) transfer the vehicles in its name with its own funds; (b) regularly maintain the vehicle every 5,000 kilometers (km) or three (3) months, whichever is earlier; (c) register the vehicles with the LTO every year; (d) obtain the necessary insurance policies with the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) every year (comprehensive and/or third party liability); (e) maintain their physical appearance in good condition.
