LU CMCI FOCAL TEAM CONVENES, UNDERGOES DATA VALIDATION WORKSHOP

As the province of La Union gradually achieves its 2025 vision to be the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025 through the leadership of Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, its component City and Municipalities are all gearing up to improve their competitiveness in government efficiency, economic dynamism, infrastructure, resiliency, and innovation as they join the 2023 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) Validation Workshop conducted on April 11, 2023 at the Hotel Ariana, Paringao, Bauang, La Union.
Spearheaded by the Department of the Trade & Industry - La Union in partnership with the Local Economic Enterprise & Investment Promotions Unit and other key departments of the Provincial Government of La Union, the CMCI Validation Workshop aims to guide the Local Government Units' CMCI Focal persons/team on how to navigate the new platform and accomplish the Local Data Capture Sheets based on the pillars of Economy Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, Resiliency, and Innovation.
Mr. Keneth G. Bayani, Research Director of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-Mid La Union Campus facilitated the workshop and guided the representatives of the participating CMCI Focal Teams from the La Union LGUs on how to properly collect, review data and accomplish Local Data Capture Sheets based on the pillars of Economy Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, Resiliency, and Innovation.
Provincial Administrator Agnes Grace A. Cargamento delivered Gov. Rafy’s message emphasizing that LGUs should be firm in improving their services as it determines the effectiveness of their performance and competitiveness in their local government thrust.
“Gusto ko pong makita yung determination, yung resolve ng bawat LGU na talagang firm po sila to carry out their best performances. And that through this workshop, we will be able to improve para mailabas pa natin yung competitiveness nila, maeencourage sila at maiinspire pa po natin sila to be the best dahil ang kabuuang performanaces ng mga LGU natin ang siyang mag rerepresent sa buong La Union”, Gov. Rafy’s message.
CMCI is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the National Competitiveness Council and the Department of Trade and Industry through the Regional Competitiveness Committees, thru the Competitiveness Bureau, with the support of United States Agency for International Development. In 2022, The LGUs in the province of La Union received a total of 15 awards from different categories. La Union maintains 1st in Region I and earned the 11th spot nationwide as the Most Competitive Province.
