In celebration of the Month of the Ocean with the theme “Unlock Ocean-Based Solutions to Climate: Karagatan ang Solusyon,” the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), through its Provincial Government–Environment and Natural Resources Office, spearheaded a series of coastal clean-up activities and a Communication, Education, and Public Awareness campaign. These were held on May 14, 2025, at the Agoo-Damortis Protected Landscape and Seascape and on May 20, 2025, at Barangay Carisquis, Luna.
Conducted in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Protected Area Management Office and the Local Government Unit of Luna, the initiatives aimed to raise awareness on the dangers of plastic pollution to marine ecosystems and to encourage local communities to maintain a litter-free environment.
A total of 251 volunteers joined the movement, including representatives from local government units, Sangguniang Kabataan, barangay officials, and community members.
By organizing these clean-ups alongside the numerous environmental projects under the #KalikasanNaman campaign, the PGLU aims to inspire collective responsibility in preventing waste and marine debris from further polluting the province’s coastal areas for a safer and healthier La Union.
