LA UNION SET TO WELCOME STRONGER PROGRAMS FOR MIGRANT WORKERS

The Provincial Government of La Union welcomed the Department of Migrants Worker (DMW) led by ASEC for Internal Management and Administration Violeta D. Illescas together DMW I Officer-in-Charge Chief Fernando Jose Merrera, representatives from DMW Central Office and Regional Center for Luzon on May 16, 2023 at the Provincial Capitol Building, City of San Fernando, La Union.
Accompanied by La Union PESO Manager, Ms. Charito C. Dator, the delegation discussed their eagerness to execute programs for migrant workers in La Union with Acting Governor, Hon. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega and Provincial Administrator, Ms. Agnes Grace A. Cargamento.
ASEC Illescas briefly discussed policies, programs and projects in the promotion of the rights and welfare of migrant workers and their families. She also shared her thoughts on the effort of DMW in setting up offices in the different regions of the country to hasten the delivery of programs and services to OFWs.
The PGLU recognizes the significant contribution of migrant workers in the economy banking on strengthened partnerships with DMW to provide a stronger social protection services for the welfare of the migrants workers and returning OFWs in the Province of La Union.
