Competing with top international student debaters, two Kaprobinsiaan debaters conquered the global stage after dominating the International Debate Championship organized by Van Lang University in Vietnam.
Representing the Philippines and the Province of La Union, the tandem of Chrisna Carpio and Justin Rafael Tangog from the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-South La Union Campus (DMMMSU-SLUC) won over different institutions in the world, bringing home the championship title.
The competition was anchored with the concept of the Sustainable Development Goals chartered by the United Nations while adhering to the British Parliamentary Format. During the final round, the teams debated on the topic "This house believes that international support must be a priority instead of domestic resources."
Carpio and Tangog are both 4th year students taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education, Major in Social Studies at the DMMMSU-SLUC.
The Provincial Government of La Union led by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David congratulates the #LUcal debaters for their recent achievement and for waving the banner of the country and La Union in the international scene. As they advance to the summer school in Vietnam, let us altogether wish them luck and may they continue to inspire our fellow Kaprobinsiaan.
