Internship to Employment: PGLU Hires Interns as Part of Workforce

Six interns under Government Internship Program (GIP) were retained and absorbed by the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) after they completed their six months GIP contract. Provincial PESO Manager, Ms. Charito C. Dator together with staff Mr. Rowell B. Timoteo, Labor and Employment Officer II and the newly-absorbed employees from the GIP of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) paid a courtesy visit to Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David on May 29, 2023.
With the goal to provide employment opportunities to the youth, a total of 10 GIP beneficiaries were assigned to the different offices in the PGLU starting August 1 until December 31, 2022. With the PGLU's support of DOLE's GIP program, the young workers were able to gain valuable work experience that helped their career path opened in the PGLU.
Gov. Rafy encouraged the young workers to have a right attitude towards work and to always be ready to serve the province through meaningful employment. PGLU and DOLE will continue to facilitate employment facilitation programs especially for the youth, honing them in becoming a responsible and experienced workforce to serve all kaprobinsiaan.
