Gov. Rafy Ensures Continued La Union PROBINSYAnihan thru alignment of PPAs among Component LGUs

Headed by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, Mayors and Municipal Representatives of the component Local Government Units of La Union showcased their unification in public service through discourse and dialogues during the League of Municipalities Meeting on April 27, 2023, in the BAC Conference Room, Provincial Capitol of La Union.
The La Union Chapter meeting was presided over by Balaoan Mayor and League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) President Hon. Aleli Concepcion wherein the participants discussed the concerns in LGUs that needed to be addressed and information to be relayed to the towns. According to Gov. Rafy, the said meeting also served as a platform to raise awareness regarding the current condition and state of the LGUs.
The mayors who personally attended the meeting were Agoo Mayor Hon. Frank O. Sibuma; Bacnotan Mayor Hon. Divina C. Fontanilla; Balaoan Mayor Hon. Aleli U. Concepcion; Burgos Mayor Hon. Delfin C. Comedis, Jr.; Caba Mayor Hon. Donna R. Crispino; Luna Mayor Hon. Gary N. Pinzon; and San Gabriel Mayor Hon. Lany B. Carbonell.
𝗟𝗨 𝗟𝗚𝗨𝘀 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲
Among the agenda of the meeting is the presentation of Programs and Projects by the guests from the National Tobacco Administration (NTA) represented by Mr. John James Canosa, Project Evaluation Officer II of the Corporate Planning Department of NTA. Other agenda of the meeting include a discussion about the plans of the LGUs for the kaprobinsiaan such as the Synergia Mayor’s Forum on Education and the Distribution of Tanod Vests for all barangays.
The discussion also covered various sectors in LGUs that needed attention such as the youth sector through the appointment of the Local Youth Development Officer (LYDO). It is suggested that the request for LYDO appointees would be per LGU. Concerns regarding Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) were also part of the discussions wherein Bacnotan Mayor Hon. Divina Fontanilla reported the details of the RPOC Meeting last March 23, 2023. LMP programs and projects that can be charged from the LMP Provincial Fund were also further tackled by the participating mayors.
𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗮 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻
To further inspire and encourage the LGUs for a more empowered public service, Gov. Rafy gave out some notable awards in various categories during the meeting. LGU Balaoan bagged 1st place for Cleanest, Safest, and Greenest LGU for the Coastal Category winning Php 1,000,000. LGU San Juan won 2nd place winning Php 750,000 in the same category. LGU Caba won third place for Coastal Category; while the 3rd place for Freshwater Category was given to LGU Pugo. LGU Agoo also bagged 3rd place for Category A (1st-3rd Class Municipalities). All 3rd place winners won Php 500,000 each.
Another agenda for the meeting also include awarding the winners for the Pasko sa Kapitolyo 2022. Among all Christmas Villages presented by the LGUs, LGU Balaoan won 1st place; followed by LGU Bacnotan in 2nd place; and LGU Rosario won 3rd place. The said LGUs won Php 1,000,000; Php 500,000; and Php 300,000 respectively.
𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗨 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗕𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗬𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗻
The meeting, through the different agenda, served as a stratagem by the local leaders to manifest the call of the province for unity and harmony. Starting from the leaders to the constituents, the discussions further established and encouraged unison among all kaprobinsiaan in answering the call for #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan. Gov. Rafy highly encouraged this coming together of the LGUs to position La Union as the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
