DMMMSU-SLUC Debate Teams Excel in International Championship, LU SP Passes Congratulatory Resolution

The debate teams from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - South La Union Campus (DMMMSU-SLUC) showcased their brilliance at the iDebate - Speak up & Make an Impact International Debate Championship - Season 2. Outperforming participants from various countries, one of the three DMMMSU-SLUC teams emerged as the champions. This outstanding achievement led to the passing of congratulatory resolutions by the 23rd Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP), acknowledging their remarkable performance.
The resolutions, sponsored by Board Member Victor I. Rivera, were approved during the 46th Regular Session on May 16, 2023. The resolutions extended sincere congratulations to the three DMMMSU-SLUC debate teams from the Provincial Governor, Provincial Vice-Governor, and all SP members.
Mr. Justin Rafael N. Tango and Ms. Chrisna G. Carpio, students of Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Social Science, represented DMMMSU-SLUC and were coached by Professor Nestor Ulpindo. Their exceptional skills secured them the championship title, a cash prize of $100, and an opportunity to attend summer school at Van Lang University in July. They impressed judges and opponents alike with their teamwork, intellectual depth, and eloquence, bringing immense pride to their institution, province, and country.
The other two DMMMSU-SLUC debating teams, also coached by Professor Ulpindo, composed of Ms. Danna Mae Marcos, Ms. Kaleiah Dominique Cacdac, Mr. Philip Jerome Posas, and Ms. Kristel Marie Ramirez, achieved a Top 16 finish out of 40 teams from five different countries. Their insightful arguments and ability to tackle complex issues earned admiration, showcasing their potential for future competitions.
The resolutions passed by the SP commend the debaters for their exceptional abilities, serving as an inspiration to other students in the province.
