Children’s Health Caravan

In line with Gov. Pacoy’s “Healthy La Union, Happy La Union by 2022” and in celebration of the National Children’s Week, Ms. Maria Emilia Eleanor I. Pimentel of Bacnotan District Hospital (BDH) teaches elementary pupils of Sta. Cruz Elementary School about the importance of the three food groups, Go, Grow and Glow, during the conduct of health advocacies caravan, medical and dental mission at Brgy. Sta. Cruz, Bacnotan, La Union on January 30, 2019 by BDH personnel led by Dr. Zenserly D. Pagaduan. Other health teachings like proper hand washing, healthy lifestyle, and tobacco-smoking cessation have been discussed to the parents and children. Free consultation with free medicines, random blood glucose test, tooth extraction and fluoride application have also been provided in partnership with Sta. Cruz Elementary School Alumni Batch ’83. Dental kit, toys, school supplies, and other treats have also been given to the children.
In celebration of the National Children’s Week, Bacnotan District Hospital (BDH) personnel led by their Chief, Dr. Zenserly D. Pagaduan, conducted health advocacies caravan, medical, and dental mission to elementary pupils and their parents at Sta. Cruz Elementary School on January 30, 2019.
Partnering with Sta. Cruz Elementary School Alumni Batch ’83, children of said school and their parents were provided with health treats like free medical consultation. Various medicines and multivitamins were also given to supplement their nutrition. Children were also provided with free dental services, fluoride application and dental kits. Other medical services like blood pressure-taking and free random blood glucose test were done to parents. Ms. Maria Emilia Eleanor I. Pimentel of BDH taught the importance of the three food groups, Go, Grow and Glow to the pupils of Sta. Cruz Elementary School.
The children and their parents were also instilled with the health advocacies of BDH like proper hand washing and good hand hygiene, proper nutrition and the importance of cleanliness during food preparation, having a healthy lifestyle, and the hazards of tobacco smoking. Educational materials and supplies, toys, and other treats were also given to the children. After the information drive, a feeding program followed.
In line with Gov. Pacoy’s goal of a “Healthy La Union, Happy La Union by 2022,” health caravans aim to bring hospital services to people. Almost 200 children and about a hundred parents benefitted from the free health services.
