ZUMBA LANG, HAPPY & HEALTHY LUNG! In celebration of National Lung Month and as Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III envisions a Happy and Healthy La Union by 2022, Caba District Hospital (CDH) Chief of Hospital Dr. Gretchen F. Aromin leads the Zumba Lang, Happy & Healthy Lung session held at CDH Atrium, Poblacion Sur, Caba, La Union on August 31, 2018.
As Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III envisions a Happy and Healthy La Union by 2022, Caba District Hospital (CDH) conducted a Zumba Lang, Happy & Healthy Lung session in celebration of the National Lung Month on all Fridays of August 2018 held at the Atrium of CDH, Poblacion Sur, Caba, La Union. Said celebration is pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation No. 1761 declaring the month of August as National Lung Month.
Said Zumba session was conducted from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM as a form of lung exercise. It was participated in by patients’ watchers and CDH employees led by the Zumba enthusiast Chief of Hospital Dr. Gretchen F. Aromin, who also encouraged all the employees to participate in the said activity to improve everybody’s health and promote healthy lifestyle.
According to Dr. Aromin, Zumba enhances both the mental and physical health and it lowers blood pressure, increases lung capacity, and improves respiratory function, heart rate and circulation and muscle tone.
Since the human lungs are very important and are at risk to many diseases like allergies, asthma, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, emphysema, lung cancer, pulmonary tuberculosis and pneumonia, CDH believed that these illnesses can be prevented by adopting a healthy lifestyle.
Healthy Lifestyle includes eating nutritious foods, not smoking, avoiding second-hand smoke, protecting self from carcinogen and dust, washing hands often with clean water and soap, avoiding crowded places especially during rainy season to prevent cough, colds and flu, maintaining good oral hygiene and participating in exercises or Zumba activities
