A total of 18 Kaprobinsiaan beneficiaries of the Balik Probinsiya, Bagong Pag-Asa Program (BP2) were warmly welcomed in front of the La Union Agri-Tourism Center, City of San Fernando, La Union, on December 7, 2021.
With the Provincial Government of La Unionโs continuous effort to capacitate each component Local Government Unit of the province in providing quick and efficient services in their jurisdictions, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel โPacoyโ R. Ortega III led the turning over of a total of 36 units of Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPV) to each barangay of Balaoan on December 6, 2021.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) Committee on Environment, Energy, Human Ecology and Security, together with the SP Committee on Public Works and Utilities, and SP Committee on Laws, Rules, and Privileges conducted a Joint Committee Hearing relative to the consecutive power outages in affected La Union Electric Company (LUECO) service areas which occurred on December 3-10, 2021.
The institution of the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) together with the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and the Department of Labor and Employment โ La Union Field Office (DOLE-LUFO) forged a partnership in establishing a school-based Public Employment Service Office (PESO) named as the DMMMSU Trabaho Center. DMMMSU launched its Trabaho Center on December 2, 2021 via Zoom.
The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment โ La Union Field Office (DOLE-LUFO) and the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – Region I (RTWPB I) provided a training-orientation in the new normal on the Green Me & Safety Seal Certification Program to the 26 participants from the different hotels, resorts, restaurants, travel agencies and other stakeholders from the tourism sector in the province of La Union on December 1, 2021, via Zoom.
In alignment to the CY 2022 National Budgets overarching theme โSustaining the Legacy of Real Change for the Future Generations,โ the Province of La Union proposed its own Budget with the priorities on the Stronger La Union Roadmap on Response, Recovery, and Local Economic Development towards becoming the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
With the restrictions brought about by the current pandemic, theater halls may be closed, and stages may be empty, but that does not mean that nothing is happening for local and international actors of La Union. Community-based theater group Dulaang ELYU brought the province’s talents to the virtual stage of the 15th Tanghal National University and Community-based Theater Festival. At the same time, Balaoan, La Union native Winchester Lopez continues to shine in the Vienna, Austria production of the Broadway hit musical Miss Saigon.
