OPVet, PHO Conduct Rabies Awareness Program, Information Education Campaign

To rationalize and control measures for preventing and eradicating animal bites and rabies cases in the province, the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPVet) in partnership with the Provincial Health Office (PHO) conducts Rabies Awareness Program and Information Education Campaign participated by students and educators from the La Union National High School.
Veterinarians from the OPVet Dr. Romuelda M. Gallebo and Dr. Santa Fe L. Papal discussed matters associated to rabies and animal bites which includes proper care, prevention, and laws and ordinances addressing the topic and animal care.
In addition to the OPVet’s lecture, Ms. Tephanie Ruth Remorin, Nurse II of PHO explained the risks of “tandok” in treating animal bites and emphasized that there is a provincial ordinance prohibiting the said practice.
The Provincial Government of La Union urges the kaprobinsiaan to always be vigilant and responsible pet owners to avoid animal bites for a rabies free La union.
