#WhatDoYouThink: UNDERGROUND CABLING SYSTEM IN LA UNION?

With the end goal to fix the cabling system in the province, the KALSADA Group conducted clearing operations to unsightly tangled and dead Telecommunication cables in the City of San Fernando, La Union on April 14, 2023.

The activity was conducted as part of the Provincial Ordinance No. 230-2020 known as Anti-Road Obstruction Ordinance. Moreover, a new draft ordinance is calendared for 2nd reading proposing Telecommunication Cables to use the underground pipe system.

Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Public Works and Utilities Chairperson Board Member Maria Annabelle S. De Guzman has been spearheading the conduct of joint clearing operations on roads both on ground and aerial fixtures for the public's safety especially motorists and passersby and possible integration of innovative infrastructure. She personally monitored the conduct of clearing operations by professional telco line personnel.

Members of the KALSADA Group present in the activity were representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways, La Union Electric Company, Inc., Philippine National Police, City Government of San Fernando, Provincial Engineering Office and Provincial Legal Office. Representatives from all Telecommunication Companies in La Union were mandated to send their line personnel for them to identify their respective dead and unserviceable cables. The clearing operations will continue in other municipalities in La Union.
