PGLU HOSTS MSMED COUNCIL 1ST REGULAR MEETING FOR 2023; HALO-HALO DE ILOKO OWNER ASSUMES MSMED LEADERSHIP

The Department of Trade and Industry – La Union together with the Local Economic Enterprise Investments Promotions Unit (LEEIPU) of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) spearheaded the 2023 First Regular Meeting of the La Union Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Council on March 21, 2023 at the BAC Conference Room, Provincial Capitol Building, City of San Fernando, La Union.

A total of 18 members of the MSMED Council from the different government agencies and private sector representatives convened and discussed its future strategic goals and plans on improved access to finance, technology and innovation, enhanced management and labor capacities, access to market and improved business climate. Each representative also presented their 2022 accomplishments and their respective organization’s future development programs, projects and activities aligned to the growth and development of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector.

The group also presented a short Audio-Visual Presentation tribute for the outgoing Chairperson Lina Flor G. Hizon during the Ceremonial Turnover of the La Union MSMED Council Leadership to Mr. Xavier B. Mercado, entrepreneur and Halo-Halo de Iloko owner, as the incoming Chairperson of the La Union MSMED Council. Mr. Mercado also received the Operations Guidebook for MSMED Councils, which serves as a reference on the processes and procedures necessary for the smooth operations of the activities of the MSMED Council.

To support the MSMEs, the PGLU, through their LEEIPU and the MSMED Council, targets to implement identified programs, projects and activities that will ensure the growth of MSMEs as key drivers of economic growth in the province.
