The Provincial Government of La Union intensified its resolve to nurture the environment through its #KalikasanNaman Campaign. As the province celebrates its 173rd Founding Anniversary, the Provincial Government- Environment and Natural Resources Office emulates #ayat for nature by spearheading a simultaneous coastal and river cleanup drive in partnership with the province's different component Local Government Units and Regional-lines of National Government Agencies on February 27, 2023.

Drawing inspiration from Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David's call for #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan, the said simultaneous cleanup drive is anchored with L.U. - Love and Unity. Love for the environment and unity in making a litter-free province. Further, it aims to make a difference especially in shaping the way kaprobinsiaan interact with the environment as the latter's sustainability leads to the realization of the province's vision to be the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.

An estimated of 800 kgs of trash were collected during the two-hour cleanup drive. Common trash collected in shores and riversides were cigarette butts, plastic wrappers, plastic cups and bottles. These were transported to the sanitary landfill facilities for final waste disposal.

The simultaneous activity was a successful one with the active participation of all 20 component LGUs of the province, volunteer kaprobinsiaan and all partner and stakeholders - their way to give back to the environment and the province in its 173rd Founding Anniversary.
