With an optimistic outlook for the travel and tourism sector manifested by the growing demand for trips, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) headed by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica โ€œRafyโ€ Ortega-David joined the 30th Travel Tour Expo (TTE) on February 3 โ€“ 5, 2023 at the SMX Convention Center, Manila. The three-day travel fair with the theme โ€œA Better and Stronger Future of Travel Is Here,โ€ was organized by Philippine Travel Agencies Association Inc. (PTAA) and participated in by more than 300 exhibitors with 700 booths.

Department of Tourism โ€“ Region 1 (DOT-R1) led by Regional Director Joseph Francisco โ€œJeffโ€ R. Ortega hosted a pavilion where the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan were able to showcase their respective tourism products and destinations. La Union delegation was led by Provincial Tourism Officer Arthur S. Cortez, Jr. along with representatives from the La Union Alliance of Travel and Tour Agencies (LUATTA).

The event, which was attended by more than 100,000 estimated visitors, offered cheapest travel deals and packages up to more than 70% discount on airfares, tours and accommodations.

Citing that travels this year will be driven by the anticipated long weekends, the PGLU is optimistic about the stronger future of travel. With the Go-signal from Gov. Rafy, the province is ready to welcome back tourists considering that all safety protocols are in place and affordable offers for staycations and tours were also laid.

As the tourism industry continues to recover, the participation to TTE is expected to encourage โ€œrevenge travelโ€ that can greatly boost La Union and encourage tourism stakeholders to open their businesses in the province. This could pave way towards recovery of lost opportunities, employment generation and spurring of infrastructure development. All these efforts are geared towards attaining our vision to become the โ€œHeart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.โ€
