Starting January 2023, Provincial Ordinance No. 398-2022 or the 2022 Revenue Code of the Province of La Union will be in full implementation.
The proposal of the ordinance emanated from the Provincial Treasurer and other executive departments. It was endorsed by the Honorable Governor Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David which pursues to increase the revenue collection of the province by increasing the tax to 10% from the previous 2017 Revenue Code.
The ordinance also updates the fees and charges of different Provincial Offices that are not included in the Provincial Ordinance No. 346-2021 like the Veterinary Services (PVet); Hospital Services (District Hospitals); User Charges on Lease of Spaces (PGSO); and Leasing of Heavy Equipment (PEO). In addition, some sections of the 2017 Revenue Code were reiterated in a clearer manner to enhance better implementation of the new Revenue Code.
The Provincial Treasurer expects a 10% increase in revenue collection from the previous year 2022 which will help the Provincial Government in the implementation of its programs, projects and activities budgeted for 2023.
The ordinance was passed last October 4, 2022 during the 14th regular session of the 23rd Sangguniang Panlalawigan on its third reading of the ordinance. The ordinance updated the provisions of the provincial tax code of 2017. Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Victor I. Rivera, the Chairman of the SP Committee on Ways and Means, is the main sponsor of the said ordinance co-sponsored by all Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members.
