PTESDC PREPARES FOR LA UNION PROVINCIAL SKILLS COMPETITION 2023 DUBBED AS ‘BAEL ITI LUKAL’

The Provincial Technical Education and Skills Development Committee (PTESDC) approved the proposed branding for the annual conduct of the La Union Provincial Skills Competition, “Bael iti LUkal” during its first quarter meeting for CY 2023 on January 17, 2023 at Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Regional Office I, Catbangen, City of San Fernando, La Union.

The Iloko term "Bael" or "Kabaelan" speaks for the Ilocano abilities, skills, and talents. A wordplay with LU (La Union) to the word lokal emphasized the skills and talents of Kaprobinsiaan. These "Kabaelan" of the Ilokanos are indeed the pride of the province as all Kaprobinsiaan utilize their skills in unity to heed the Governor’s call for La Union PROBINSYAnihan. The Skills Competition aims to recognize work excellence and develop a new generation of highly skilled La Union workers.

On behalf of Governor Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, Chairperson of the PTESDC, EnP. Michaela Louise T. Delfinado, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator presided over the meeting where the following were also discussed and approved by the Committee Accomplishments of the PTESDC as of December 30, 2022; 2023 Provincial Skills Competition Planning; and PTESDC La Union CY 2023 Work Plan.

Another highlight of the meeting was the announcement that the Agri-Tourism Industry Board of La Union is the first industry board to be established in Region 1 and one of the eight in the entire country.

Present during the meeting were TESDA - La Union Provincial Director Alvin L. Yturralde, Ed. D. and PTESDC Head Secretariat, with the various representatives from both the government and private sector.
