With the aim to streamline the National Government’s CoViD-19 vaccination program, The World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) paid a visit at the La Union Provincial Capitol for the conduct of the CoViD-19 Post-Introduction Evaluation (cPIE) today, April 20, 2022.

The evaluators from the WHO, UNICEF and CDC are deployed in the different parts of Ilocos Region including the Province of La Union to gather data and to properly check the implementation of the immunization program as a vital action in protecting the constituents against the deadly virus.

Gov. Francisco Emmanuel β€œPacoy” Ortega III represented by Provincial Administrator Agnes Grace Cargamento, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Eduardo Posadas and Vaccination Program Operations Manager Dr. Dan William Dacanay warmly welcomed Dr. Sara Clements of the United States CDC, WHO Representatives Dr. Sweet Alipon and Ms. Angel Zorilla, WHO Philippines Representative Mr. Venjie Benito and UNICEF Philippines Representatives Ms. Kathleen Solis and Ms. Teresita Hilario.

The said activity aims to assess the outstanding implementation strategies of the vaccination rollout and activities including the challenges encountered, provide recommendations for both national and subnational levels in order to optimize the impact from CoViD-19 vaccination, assess the impact of CoViD-19 vaccine deployment on the immunization system and core immunization activities highlighting the lessons learned from CoViD-19 vaccine deployment to strengthen the over-all national immunization system and health security.

The final result of the evaluation will be consolidated and presented at the DOH-CHD-1 and DOH Central Office and other stakeholders in the international community.

The PGLU strongly supports these kind of activities capitalizing the good practice for the development of the immunization system and for capacitating the health security in the Province gearing towards addressing gaps and elevating the necessary efforts to protect public health amidst the pandemic.
