The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the leadership of Gov. Raphaelle Veronica โ€œRafyโ€ Ortega-David took its first step in integrating volunteerism as part of La Union PROBINSYAnihan through the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Philippine National Volunteerism Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) led by Executive Director Donald James Gawe on December 20, 2022 at the Provincial Capitol.

The MOU aims to mainstream volunteerism as part of the developmental thrusts of the PGLU in order to maximize citizen participation and complement resources. Gov. Rafy and Executive Director Gawe were joined by Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Michaela Louise T. Delfinado and PNVSCA-Program Coordination, Evaluation, and Monitoring Division- OIC Kenneth Siruelo who served as witness signatories. Along with them were the PGLU Volunteerism Focal Persons representing the Departments, Offices and District Hospitals of the PGLU.

In detail, the PGLUโ€™s Volunteerism Program was officially presented through the Kadua: La Union Volunteerism Program that serves as the call to action for the Province to set up a comprehensive database and partner with all the existing volunteer-related organizations across the Province. These initial projects are geared towards promoting the essence of volunteerism and ignite the peopleโ€™s passion to extend volunteer services to their fellow kaprobinsiaan.

โ€œThis is the first step that we are able to inspire and influence more of our workmates, staff and employees to do the same na ibigay ang sarili for the greater good.โ€ Gov. Rafy said during her speech.

In support of Gov. Rafyโ€™s commitment, PNVSCAโ€™s Executive Director Gawe emphasized, โ€œThrough our joint efforts and commitment we are able to achieve more and empower one another in our pursuit of matatag, maginhawa at panatag na buhay para sa lahat.โ€

Moving forward, the PGLU looks to tap into the kaprobinsiaanโ€™s innate capacity for service, compassion, and camaraderie by implementing programs and projects and using Kadua as its main platform.
