With the intent to ease the educational worries of some students, the National Youth Commission (NYC), through the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation of La Union, continues to provide one-time educational and financial assistance to 1,000 kaprobinsiaan-beneficiaries aged 15-30 years old under the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 1โs (DSWD-FO1) Assistance to Individuals/Families in Crisis Situation (AICS).
The awarding of educational support cash assistance began in March 2022 and targets to end in the first week of April 2022. It aims to assist and support students with their educational expenses and strives to improve student access to and achievement in higher education by aiding them and their families in locating, getting, and effectively utilizing all available financial resources. Moreso, the program helps disadvantaged but deserving youngsters continue in school and finish their education, allowing them to rise beyond their circumstances.
A thorough screening and selection process was conducted to identify beneficiaries. SK Federation Presidents, with the help of their SK Council of their respective municipalities/city selected deserving beneficiaries with the assistance of the Municipal Social Welfare Development Office (MSWDO) and City Social Welfare Development Office (CSWDO).
SK Federation of La Union led by Hon. Alyssa Kristine Sibuma expresses their gratitude to the National Youth Commission (NYC) and DSWD-FO1 AICS for this very meaningful and beneficial program. Likewise, Hon. Sibuma thanks the SK Federation Presidents of each municipality/city for their contributions to the success of this program.
Truly, the Provincial Government of La Union acknowledges the importance of education especially to the youth sector and helps them out in pursuing a better future as they shall become contributors in building a #StongerLaUnion, a province worth living in.
