In time for the celebration of the 63rd Public Library Day today, March 9, 2022, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the La Union Provincial Library (LUPL) turned over Tourism Books to the La Union Public Libraries Association to be added to their respective Library Agri-Tourism Corners during their monthly meeting at the LUPL, City of San Fernando, La Union.
As their contribution to the realization of the Province's vision to position La Union as the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025, all public libraries in the province are maintaining their Agri-Tourism Corner containing resources in the topic.
Certificates of Completion for the 2021 Monthly Accomplishment Reports Completers from the National Library of the Philippines were also awarded to the public libraries Manuel E. Arquilla Silid Karunungan at Kultura in Bauang; Dr. Eufranio Chan Eriguel Congressional E-Library in Agoo; Atty. Al-Fred O. Concepcion Municipal E-Library in Balaoan; City Of San Fernando Public Library; and Rosario Municipal Library. The LUPL is also a recipient of the same award.
To improve their services as public offices, Citizen's Charter preparation and utilization was also discussed in the meeting to ensure that customers have good library experience.
Provincial Librarian Ms. Marissa D. Acosta expressed her commitment to continue to collaborate with their counterparts in the Local Government Units to ensure that they are calibrated and aligned in their knowledge and resources management.
By virtue of Proclamation No. 563, series of 1959, March 9 of every year was designated as Public Library Day. PGLU recognizes the vital roles of public libraries most especially now that re-opening of face-to-face classes are eyed soon.
