Abel Fashion Show Highlights LU Culture, Heritage

Intricate designs. Woven culture and history. Sturdy and colorful threads. Abel, La Union’s main fabric product, was the star during the Mutia ti La Union 2023 Pre-pageant that featured the Abel Fashion Show and Talent Competition on February 26, 2023 at Agora Event Center, Thunderbird Resort, City of San Fernando, La Union.

The event conducted was part of the celebration of Ayat Fest 2023: the 173rd La Union Founding Anniversary with the theme LU La Unay, that aims to promote and enrich the province’s history and culture while embracing innovation and continuous development.

In her message, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David emphasized, “This is a founding anniversary with advocacy and with a purpose. Our theme last 2020 was to highlight the province's vision to be the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025 this year naman po ang theme natin is environmental preservation and sustainability."

The 20 stunning Mutia ti La Union 2023 candidates glamorously ramped in the runway wearing Casual Chic-Street Wear Collection made from La Union’s very own Abel Fabric.

Different talents staged were dancing, singing, magic show and oration. The winner for Best in Talent will be awarded on the Grand Coronation Night at Poro Point Baywalk on March 2, 2023.

The different activities of #AyatFest2023 also serve as avenue to promote eco-activities that is essential in attaining the vision to position La Union as the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
