PGLU CONTINUES TO EQUIP MORE ESSENTIAL WORKERS ON THE COVID-19 VACCINE

The Provincial Advocacy, Demand Generation, and Social Mobilization Group (ADGSMG) of the CoViD-19 Vaccination Program Task Force (CVP-TF) held its fifth Focus Group Discussion (FGD) yesterday, May 24, 2021, with the frontline essential workers of the La Union Provincial Jail (LUPJ.)
Since the LUPJ is classified under CoViD-19 vaccine Priority Group A1.7, the ADGSMG emphasizes building greater immunity to minimize the risks of exposure to the virus and of contracting severe CoViD-19.
During the discussion, the team clarified vaccine myths and misinformation and provided credible and reliable information on the CoViD-19 vaccines, its benefits, safety and efficacy, and side effects.
The CVP-TF champions data-driven approaches in communicating the CoViD-19 Vaccination Program of La Union – Bakuna Muna.

CIDG, PMFC Meets with Gov. Pacoy to thwart any form of criminality in the province

In order to ensure harmony with the Provincial Government of La Union in their actions to thwart any form of criminality in the province, Gov. Pacoy meets with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the 1st and 2nd La Union Police Mobile Force Company (PMFC) in a courtesy visit on May 24, 2021 at the Office of the Governor, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.
Present in the visit were La Union Police Provincial Office Director PCOL JONATHAN G. CALIXTO; 2nd La Union PMFC Force Commander PLTCOL JOFFREY M TODEÑO; 1st La Union PMFC Officer-In-Charge Police Major ANGELO J CAMUYOT; and CIDG Bicol headed by PCOL BAYANI M RAZALAN.
Peace, order and security of the constituents remain as priority in the Province of La Union while the battle against CoViD-19 continues.

PGLU CONDUCTS BALAOAN WATCHTOWER SITE VALIDATION, CONSULTATION

The PGLU-LGU Balaoan validation team conducts site validation at Balaoan Watchtower located in Brgy. Almeida, Balaoan, La Union on May 21, 2021. The LGU is currently coordinating with the National Museum of the Philippines for the official launch of the site’s heritage marker to bear the cultural and historical significance of the watchtower. Inputs from the site validation will serve as the basis of the province for cultural development planning as well as future policies and regulations.

PRC La Union Chapter Aligns with the PGLU Strategy

In an effort to align their chapter plan to the Provincial Government’s strategy, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III was invited to present during the PRC La Union Chapter Development Workshop on May 21, 2021 via online conference.
Gov. Pacoy cascaded the Stronger La Union Strategy and proposed programs that the organization can adopt to complement the Province’s strategic objectives and enable efficient utilization of resources. He also emphasized that governance is a shared responsibility and the Province cannot succeed without the collaboration of all stakeholders. Gov. Pacoy stated, “Your effort to align your organizational strategy to the Province’s Stronger La Union Strategy will surely be a game-changer as we both carry out our shared principle of uplifting the quality of lives of the people.“
Moving forward, the PRC shall craft their strategy and shall continue to collaborate with the PGLU in order to propel the Province to greater heights and build a #StrongerLaUnion.

PGLU EMPOWERS COMMUNITIES, BRINGS VACCINE INFORMATION TO UPLAND BARANGAYS

The Advocacy, Demand Generation, and Social Mobilization Group (ADGSMG) of the CoViD-19 Vaccination Program Task Force (CVP-TF) in partnership with the La Union Medical Society (LUMS) and the Burgos Municipal Health Office (MHO) converges with the Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) of the Municipality of Burgos to increase the vaccine uptake in the uplands.
The ADGSMG held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the BHWs of the twelve (12) barangays in Burgos today, May 21, 2021. The goal of the FGD is to empower our health leaders to make informed decisions and educate them about the CoViD-19 vaccines so they can empower the Kaprobinsiaan in every barangay.
To directly answer the queries of the BHWs, the ADGSMG also invited LUMS Incoming President Dr. Guilvic Tirso Aspiras. Dr. Aspiras emphasized the importance of getting vaccinated to protect the entire community.
As of May 20, 2021, 22,210 individuals from Priority Groups A1 and A2 have received their first dose of CoViD-19 vaccine in the Province of La Union.
The CVP-TF continues to champion data-driven approaches in communicating the CoViD-19 Vaccination Program – Bakuna Muna.

LU TOURISM TO REOPEN; RE-ORIENTATION WITH STAKEHOLDERS HELD

Guidelines, protocols, and requirements for tourism reopening was discussed during the re-orientation and dialogue with the Local Government Units (LGUs) and industry stakeholders of La Union on May 21, 2021 via video conferencing. Salient provisions of Sangguniang Panlalawigan Ordinance No. 289-2021 imposing mandatory compliance with the minimum public health standards and institutionalizing registration to the NAPANAM System were also clarified.

La Union Environmental Management Coordinators Meets

Environmental Management Coordinators (EMC) of La Union convene on May 21, 2021 via video conferencing to present their accomplishment reports on solid waste management, forest resources and services management, and participation on environmental calendar of activities of the component local government units and the Provincial Government – Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO).

The said meeting was presided by Senior Environmental Management Specialist EnP. Shereal M. Catbagan of PG-ENRO. Science Research Specialist Engr. Joven Barcelo of the Department of Science and Technology – Central Office was invited to serve as resource speaker on Waste Analysis and Characterization Study. The team from Smart-GreenTec Phils also presented their company technology on waste-to-energy headed by Mr. Voltair Arroyo, Director of Smart-GreenTec Phils.

LUPJ Conducts Small Scale Tilapia Farming Seminar

𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗮 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿. In its quest to attain the strategic alignment to the Transformative Governance Roadmap of the Province of La Union, the La Union Provincial Jail (LUPJ) in coordination with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist Office conducted a Small Scale Tilapia Farming Seminar on May 20 and 21, 2021. A total of 26 persons deprived of liberty (PDL) attended the said seminar where they acquired knowledge and skills necessary in raising small scale tilapia farming which they can use upon their reintegration to the society. A total of 200 tilapia fingerlings are now being raised at the fishpond of the LUPJ and being maintained by selected PDL.
