Advocacies

I. EDUCATION

  • Scholarship Program
    • To increase the number of scholars in the province through additional college scholarships for poor but deserving students

      • In 2017, the pupils of Padang Primary School and Nagsabaran Sur Elementary School received free school supplies
      • For 2018, pupils of eight elementary schools (four schools in San Gabriel, La Union, two schools in San Juan, La Union, and two schools in Balaoan, La Union) were the recipients of free school supplies. Learners of six day care centers in San Juan, La Union were also given free school supplies.
      • In 2017, the day care centers in Balaoan and San Juan, La Union were given desk fans.
      • In 2018, 47 day care centers in Bacnotan, La Union were provided with desk fans.

  • To continue providing scholarship to poor but deserving students
  • School Assistance
    • To provide school assistance to elementary schools and day care centers through giving free school supplies (especially in far-flung community schools) and desk fans for better ventilation of classrooms

      • In 2017, the pupils of Padang Primary School and Nagsabaran Sur Elementary School received free school supplies

II. FINANCIAL LITERACY

  • To help constituents learn how to handle their hard-earned money by understanding financial concepts, as a means to fight poverty

III. DISASTER PREPAREDNESS

  • To buy/purchase more equipment to be able to provide immediate response to are as affected by calamities and minimize casualties

IV. LIVELIHOOD PROGRAMS

  • To partner with concerned agencies to provide people with livelihood opportunities and to find jobs easier; procure equipment for farmers, fisherfolks, etc.
  • To conduct dialogue meeting with different associations which represent and support livelihood groups and provide assistance in the conduct of their programs and procurement of needed livelihood equipment

      • In 2018, a dialogue consultation with the Mannamili Association of Taboc, San Juan, La Union was conducted to preserve and boost the pottery industry in San Juan, La Union.

  • To continue the initiatives in supporting liveilhood programs and projects which will provide income and employment to the people of La Union

V. Youth and Sports Development Program

  • To provide support and assistance to different sports activities

      • Various sports equipment were given to schools for the pupils’ and students use during sports activities like intramurals and sports meets
      • In October 2018, the first ever La Union Tricycle Operators and Drivers’ Association Basketball Tournament was held.

  • To continue supporting youth and sports activities which develop positive attitude and practices, and promote physical activity

VI. LEGISLATIONS

  • To enact and pass legislations for safer roads and decrease the numbers of road accidents
  • To continue the initiatives in passing legislations for safer roads in the province of La Union

VII. HEALTH AND WELLNESS

  • To ensure the health and wellness of constituents by providing medical equipment such as blood pressure apparatus and nebulizer for barangay use
  • To continue providing assistance to barangays through the giving medical equipment to be used in the delivery of basic health services to the people.
