VISION:

The Provincial Information and Tourism Office is envisioned to be a center for high-technological information and tourism promotion system in the province, promoting relevant, timely and adequate reports on the plans and programs of the Provincial Government.

MISSION:

The Provincial Information and Tourism Office manages a responsive public information system that creates public awareness of and support for the development programs and projects of the Provincial Government of La Union and promotes tourism in the province.

FUNCTIONS:

The Provincial Information Office is tasked to manage a responsive public information system to create public awareness of and support for the development programs and projects of the Provincial Government of La Union and to promote tourism of the province.

OBJECTIVES:

a. Provide relevant, adequate and timely information to local government units and residents;
b. Furnish information and data on local government units to government agencies or offices as may be required by law or ordinance and non-governmental organizations;
c. Maintain effective liaison with the various sectors of the community on matters and issues that effect the livelihood and the quality of life of the inhabitants and encourage support for the programs of the local and national government;
d. Develop plans and strategies and implement the same, particularly those which have to do with public information, research data and tourism support programs/projects of the provincial government;
e. Provide an access for public information through the “Baro A Timek ti Kapitolyo” magazine;
f. Write messages and answer correspondences for the Governor and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, as requested;
g. Maintain the operation of the Provincial Library and E-Library and the Communication System;
h. Recommend to the Sanggunian and advise the Governor in all matters relative to public information, research data and tourism industry as it relates to the total socio-economic development of the province;
i. Take charge of all tourism programs/activities of the provincial government; and
j. Exercise such other powers and perform such other duties and functions as may be prescribed by law ordinance.
