The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) in coordination with Bauang Local Government Unit and the National Committee for Literary Arts (NCLA) which is one of the 19 national sub-committees of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), held the Taboan Festival Governor’s Night last November 29, 2017 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.

In behalf of Governor Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III, Vice Governor Aureo Augusto Q. Nisce welcomed participants, delegates and organizers to La Union and hoped that its beauty will entice to create more inspiring works of art. The message was followed by the reading of an excerpt from Manuel Arguilla’s literary piece “How My Brother Leon Brought Home a Wife” which was read by Mr. John Bengan, member of NCLA and Representative of Davao Writers Guild and Ms. Djuna Alcantara, President of Gunglo Dagiti Mannurat Nga Ilokano-San Fernando City (GUMIL-SFC) for the Iloko version of the excerpt. Further, a showcase of an outstanding cultural performance from Saint Louis College Choir was witnessed by attendees as they sang various Iloko songs.
