Gov. Francisco Emnmauel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III praised the heroism of La Union Police Provincial Office (LUPPO) officers who were wounded in a shootout while serving warrants of arrest on the morning of January 2, 2016 in Barangay Cacamilingan Norte, Camiling, Tarlac.

Reports show that Enrico “Ikong” Magarde of Barangay Leones West, Tubao, La Union, resisted arrest and shoot it out with arresting officers hitting CInsp. Bernard Pagaduan, LUPPO Intelligence Chief; SInsp. Juan Maggay, Chief of the Tubao Philippine National police; and PO 2 Ryan Ponce. The suspect peppered the combined LUPPO and Camiling, Tarlac Philippine National Police with his Caliber 45 Thompson Sub Machine Gun, shooting Pagaduan in the leg; Maggay in the abdomen; and Ponce in the neck. The rest of the arresting team retaliated, killing the suspect who is the fourth most wanted person in La Union who believed to be the right hand of La Union’s second top-ranking local drug personality, Salvador Marzan. The wounded police officers were immediately rushed to separate hospitals in Tarlac Province.
