The month-long celebration of the La Union Provincial Cooperative Month with the theme “Cooperatives: The Catalyst of Change Through Poverty Eradication and Social Transformation” held its culminating and awarding ceremony on October 28, 2016 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.

It was highlighted by an orientation on Gender and Development; discussions on climate change, its adaptation and mitigation; and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Updates and open forum spearheaded by Mr. Ernesto O. Mangabat of the BIR City of San Fernando, La Union-Revenue District Office. It was followed by the awarding ceremony of the La Union Search for Most Outstanding Cooperatives. Awardee of Community Based Agricultural category was Namaltugan Multi-Purpose Cooperative with total assets of P 3,550,545.14; Saranay Multi-Purpose Cooperative for Community-Based Non-Agricultural Category with total assets of P 20,238,879.38; and LUELCO Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative for Institution-Based Category with total assets of P 16,760,482.19.
