The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) led by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III, received a special recognition for being adjudged as one of the finalists of the 2016 Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit (LGU) Award Provincial Category from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) held on October 5, 2016 at the Don Emilio Yap Boardroom, 3/F Commerce and Industry Plaza, McKinley Town Center, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

Centered on this year’s theme, “Giant Steps, 2016 and Beyond,” the annual search for Most Busines-Friendly LGUs recognized and promote models of good and effective governance. It highlighted the LGUs ability to institute good governance reforms to promote trade and investment in their localities and ensure accountability, transparency and efficiency in the conduct of their day-to-day operations.
Prior to the event, the PGLU submitted an entry for the scrutiny of a panel composed of inputs in business and governance. Out of several provinces, La Union made it to the Top 4 provinces that made it to the shortlist. Upon notification, the PGLU sent a team composed of Provincial Information and Tourism officer Adamor L. Dagang and Administrative Officer II Julius A. Manabat and Administrative IV Arthur S. Cortez for the final defense for the said award and presented the best initiatives and accomplishments of the province. The panel also commended the PGLU for submitting one of the best bid books.
