This year’s observance of the National Statistics Month (NSM) opened with the theme “Sustainable Development, Making Statistics Count” with a motorcade around the City of San Fernando, La Union on October 6, 2016. The motorcade ended at the Provincial Capitol Building where the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Director, Nestor G. Rillon served as the Guest of Honor. Director Rillonled the ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally open the Statistics Exhibit at the ground floor lobby.

In attendance were guests from several key government agencies who were welcomed by Vice Gov. Aureo Augusto Q. Nisce. He shared the crucial role of statistics in everyday lives as he mentioned that statistics is primarily used in measuring the progress of La Union, identifying areas for improvement and guiding the formulation of strategies and policies. The Vice Governor concluded his message by reassuring the guests that the doors of the PGLU are open should they ask for assistance.
