To cap off an eventful year with La Union winning accolades left and right, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) led by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega held their Christmas Celebration on December 15, 2017 at the Provincial Capitol Grounds, City of San Fernando, La Union.

In 2017, the PGLU has received a total of seventeen (17) national and regional awards and recognitions for outstanding performance in various sectors and disciplines, including the recently awarded Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG). Considering such achievements, the message of Gov. Pacoy, as read by Provincial Administrator Geoffrey S. Tilan, centered on the significance of honest labor and its role in serving as a source of pride, and thereafter should be rewarded thoroughly.

The PGLU Christmas Party had something for everybody this year. The kids and families of the employees were treated to their own celebration filled with food, games, gifts, and mascots at the Capitol Grounds. Team building activities for employees like the Amazing Race had its participants running around the Provincial Capitol looking for clues. The PGLU employees also participated in Bingo and raffle draws.

To promote body positivity and celebrate the essence of full-bodied women, the PGLU held its first ever Ms. Plus PGLU 2017 where Ms. Blesie A. Mayo, Staff nurse at the Bacnotan District Hospital was crowned as winner and Best in Talent.

As an annual event in honor of PGLU employees who excel in public service, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) led by Vice Governor Aureo Augusto Q. Nisce, through SP Resolution No. 651-2017, gave recognition to the Ten Outstanding Provincial Public Servants (TOPPS) for 2017 acknowledging their commitment and hard work in the performance of their respective duties.

Gov. Pacoy is welcoming 2018 with better performance and continued efforts to deliver on commitments, all in the pursuit of making La Union the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
