La Union Surfing Break (LUSB) had been shortlisted as One of the Finalists (from 78 to 42 entries) in this year’s Pearl Award: ATOP-DOT Best Tourism Practices of the Philippines specifically to the Search for the Best Tourism Event of the Philippines – Adventure and Sports Category (Provincial Level). This nationwide search is being organized annually by the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) and the Department of Tourism (DOT). Having been a recipient of the said award for the past two years, the province stands a good chance of landing in the ATOP Pearl Award Hall of Fame.

Provincial Information and Tourism Officer, Adamor L. Dagang, together with his tourism staff attended the validation and final judging of entries held on September 22, 2017 at National Commission for Culture and the Arts Building, 633 General Luna Street, Intramuros, Manila. The team had received positive feedback from the validators. Now on its twelveth year, Mr. Dagang assured that attendees will increase up to 30,000.

La Union is giving focus on Private-Public Partnership scheme to encourage investors to do business in the province establishing a favorable tourism climate by improving infrastructure and maintaining peace and order. “The efforts of the local government, business sector and other tourism-related entities have already paid off,” Dagang said with high hopes that the province will attain another award to finally seal a three-consecutive wins. The Finalists are expected to attend the Awarding Ceremony on October 4 – 6, 2017 to be held in Iloilo City. Pearl Award aims to honor creative works and exceptional services of the people in the tourism industry.
