Range Officers Rosalinda B. Advincula, Vic Rafael, Herman Velasco and Roy Dawa of the Star Shooters of La Union led the activity. The participants who are composed of 50 Security Guards and 38 Jail Guards were given lectures on the proper handling and use of 9 mm pistol, armalite rifle and shotgun. Each trainee was allotted with 10 live ammunitions during the firing session. Both under the Office of the Provincial Administrator, the La Union Provincial Jail and the Provincial Security Guards Office are consistent awardees for exemplary service in the Provincial Government. It includes confiscations of contrabands and apprehensions of lawless elements within their respective jurisdictions. A Range Officer from the Philippine Practical Shooting Association-La Union demonstrates the proper handling of a shotgun during the Marksmanship Training of Jail Guards and Security Guards of the Provincial Government of La Union last March 14 and 15 at the San Vicente Firing Range, San Fernando City, La Union.

To promote the products and tourist attractions of the Province, an Agri-Trade and Tourism Fair was held from February 25 to March 2. La Union's 19 towns and one city displayed their products in their respective booths in accordance to the "One Town, One Product" policy of the Department of Trade and Industry. Pictures, posters and brochures adorned the Provincial Booth side by side with the display of selected products of the province. The winners of the various contests are as follows:

Buildings and machineries of the Bauang Private Power Corporation (BPPC) in Barangay Payocpoc Sur, were sold to the Provincial Government of La Union in a public auction held on February 1, 2008 at the Provincial Capitol in San Fernando City, La Union for failure and refusal to return real property tax from 1995 to 2007 amounting to 1.866 billion pesos. The public auction was witnessed by local officials led by Congressman Victor F. Ortega, Gov. Manuel C. Ortega, Vice Gov. Eulogio Clarence Martin P. de Guzman III, Bauang Mayor Robert P. de Guzman, lawyers led by Manuel M. Lazaro and Associates, barangay officials and concerned citizens.

The auction sale of the buildings and properties was the culmination of the protracted legal battle between the Province and BPPC, lasting for almost seven years, and going through four different for a from the Local Board of Assessment Appeals (LBAA), the Central Board of Assessment Appeals (CBAA), to the Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) and finally to the Supreme Court (SC).
