To further satisfy its clients through quality public service, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) led by Gov. Manuel C. Ortega, together with Civil Service Commission-Regional Office No. 1 (CSC-RO 1) headed by Atty. Myrna V. Macatangay, conducted the Supervisory Development Course (SDC) Tracks II and III to qualified PGLU Supervisors on July 7-11, 2008 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol Building, San Fernando City, La Union.

During the opening program, Provincial Administrator Geoffrey S. Tilan welcomed the resource persons and participants. He emphasized that “as public servants, the PGLU officials and employees must continue to adhere for the core values of Commitment, Integrity, Teamwork and Eternity.” The Provincial Administrator said that “Eternity” means a passionate public service not just today, for tomorrow, not just for this earthly life, but for the life hereafter-with God in eternity. Dr. Tilan concluded that all participants must learn also to fail forward and be persistent. Because “where the going gets tough, only the tough gets going.”

Provincial Information and Tourism Office-La Union

The House Committee on Dangerous Drugs led by Ilocos Norte 1st District Congressman Roque R. Ablan,Jr. conducted an ocular inspection on August 16, 2008 at the discovered clandestine Shabu Laboratory in Upper Bimmotobot, Naguilian, La Union.

Before the inspection, Ablan was updated on the status of the case and the quantities of the confiscated suspected Shabu chemicals and equipment together with La Union 1st District Congressman Victor F. Ortega; La Union 2nd District Congressman Thomas Dumpit,Jr.; and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director-General Dionisio Santiago at Camp Brigadier General Oscar M. Florendo, San Fernando City, La Union, courtesy of PDEA-Region I led by Army Retired Col. Roberto Opeña; Police Chief Superintendent Romeo Hilomen, Task Force Bimmotobot Head and Philippine National Police-Region I Director; and La Union Provincial Police Director Noli G. Taliño.

LUPPO Living up to it’s citizen-friendly image, the La Union Provincial Police Office (LUPPO) led by P/Sr. Supt. Noli G. Taliño, was adjudged as this year’s Best Provincial Police Office on Police Community Relations during the culminating program of the 13th Police Community Relations Month Celebration on July 28, 2008 at the PNP National Headquarters, Camp Crame, Quezon City.

LUPPO bagged the prestigious award for its outstanding impact projects which include “Batang Mahirap, Edukasyon Mo, Sagot Ko,” ‘Pulis Big Brother,” “Tourist Patrol” and “Bike Patrol.” The laudable accomplishments reflect the strong partnership among LUPPO, the Provincial Government of La Union led by Gov. Manuel C. Ortegal, municipalities, barangays and the people of La Union in the implementation of various programs, projects and activities that contributed to the excellent peace, order and security in the province.
