Hi, We are living abroad, grew up in Bauang La Union,at least every other year we come back to visit families in Bauang. Is it safe to be spending a short holiday in La union during the month of April and May 2010. We intend to see the Bauang town Fiesta, see the beaches,visit the casino maybe, etc. Thanks |

Shootings shock La Union, Abra; Journalist, mayoralty bet missing Monday, 10 May 2010 02:31 PM Merck Maguddayao Violence continue to mar today's Philippine general elections as a “shootout” between private armies occurred in Barangay Raoiz, Santo Tomas, La Union, Bulalat.com reported via social networking site Twitter at 1:30 pm today. The report though did not provide details on the identities of the groups involved in the shootout. No casualties were reported as of posting time. Also, ANC reported an ambush in Abra minutes ago. According to the report, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a truck. No further details were reported as of posting time. Journalist, mayoralty candidate missing Meanwhile, a media person and a mayoralty candidate were reported missing yesterday. According to Dateline Philippines, radio stringer Rolando Bruno of Hot 106.3 FM was reported missing in Cagayan De Oro City. According to radio reporter Rene Abris, Bruno sent him a text message at around 11:45 am yesterday, in which Bruno said that he is being accosted by unidentified men. “A few minutes after he left, Bruno texted asking for help because he had been taken by people he did not know who were asking him where I was. But when I tried to call his phone, he was no longer answering,” Abris said. In Camiguin, two journalists were reportedly mauled by Governor Jurdin Jesus Romualdo and some bodyguards. The victims were identified as Herbert Hugo Dumaguing and his son Hubert of local station TV 13. In Oriental Mindoro, San Teodoro mayoralty candidate Vice Mayor Erwin Maravilla was reportedly abducted by four unidentified men on board two motorcycles at 8 pm yesterday. Maravilla is running under the Liberal Party ticket and was said to be abducted in Barangay Calangatan. *** Hi Jhun, in case you didn't went last May 2010 election in La Union, i want to share this news in case you don't know yet. In some area in Mindanao region, there are some incidents like this that were reported during last election.
